The victim of sexual assault by Russell Brand claimed to have been “used and abused” on the set.

Actor Russell Brand is being sued in the state of New York for allegedly having raped an actor who is not named on the 2011 comedy Arthur movie set.

The woman alleges that during the New York City filming of Arthur, Brand made sexual advances towards her in front of the actors and crew. Later that day, Brand attacked her when she went into the restrooms. The woman alleges that there was a significant power imbalance in the film industry, especially between stars and those with smaller roles or extras, and that she felt mistreated and exploited by Brand.

The lawsuit comes after a string of 20-year-old accusations against Brand made by a number of women accusing him of inappropriate behaviour and sexual assault. In an investigation by the Sunday Times, the Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches, Brand refuted the allegations made by four women and insisted that all of his relationships were consensual. The lawsuit also names other production-related businesses as defendants, including Warner Bros Pictures, which distributed Arthur. According to the lawsuit, Brand exposed his genitalia to the woman while he was sitting at a table staring at her while intoxicated during the filming of the movie.
