Following the passing of professional ice hockey player Adam Johnson, a man has been taken into custody on suspicion of manslaughter.
On October 28, during a Challenge Cup match between his Nottingham Panthers team and the Sheffield Steelers, Johnson suffered a serious injury. A skate blade belonging to another player sliced his neck, and he was later declared dead in the hospital. An injurious neck injury was verified by a post-mortem investigation.
Following the abandonment of the game, fans were asked to depart. “Just wanting our boy back and we know we can not have him,” is how Johnson’s family describes their terrible situation following the senseless tragedy. Johnson, who played in the US National Hockey League, Germany, and Sweden, signed with the Panthers in August. The suspect, whose identity is under wraps, has been taken into custody by South Yorkshire Police. To piece together what happened before Adam passed away in these extraordinary circumstances, an investigation has been underway.
