Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, has stood up for her daughter against allegations that she lightened her skin tone for the Renaissance film premiere, calling the claims “racist.”
Knowles took issue with Beyoncé’s appearance, which included platinum blonde hair and a silver corseted dress with matching gloves, calling them “stupid, ignorant, self-hating racist statements.”
She defended the silver theme of the film premiere, which included silver hair, a silver carpet, and silver clothing, and called the critics “bozos.” Knowles further stated that Beyoncé’s hairstylist had been contacted by a US outlet regarding the accusations. She claimed that in addition to always supporting black women and underdogs, Beyoncé also lends a helping hand to others whenever possible. Renaissance: A Motion Picture By Beyonce tracks the singer’s 39-date global tour in support of her album, which won a Grammy in 2022.
