In Kerala, India, a bombing happened during a Christian prayer gathering, leaving two people dead and more than 35 injured.
Over 2,000 people were attending a three-day Jehovah’s Witness meeting at the convention centre in Kalamassery, close to Kochi, when the explosion happened. Around nine forty in the morning, there was a blast that left one person dead and thirty-six injured.
According to the initial inquiry, the explosion was caused by an IED (improvised explosive device). After posting a video message on social media and television, a man who identified himself as a former church member but who now disagreed with the organization’s beliefs turned himself in to the police. His allegations and the motivations behind the act are presently being investigated by police. Based on data from the 2011 census, approximately 2% of India’s 1.4 billion inhabitants identify as Christian.
