Celebrating the film’s global premiere, Josh Andres Rivera, Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, and Hunter Schafer are among the cast members of Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Based on the best-selling books by Suzanne Collins, the movie takes place 64 years prior to the events of the first Hunger Games movie starring Jennifer Lawrence. British actor Blyth plays Coriolanus Snow in the fifth installment, where he takes on the role of the despotic president of the dystopian state Panem. Actress Zegler from West Side Story plays Lucy Grey Baird, a tribute competing in the tenth Hunger Games gladiatorial tournament.
The cast was allowed to attend the premiere despite the Hollywood actors’ strike, which ended on Wednesday. The movie is anticipated to hit theatres on November 17 across the globe. As drag queens, influencers, and former Love Island contestants arrived for the screening, young fans lined up to meet the actors on the red carpet. The new film, directed by Francis Lawrence, is expected to cost $100 million (£82 million). He described it as a different kind of Hunger Games movie with different characters.
