Netanyahu states that after the Israel-Hamas conflict is over, Israel will have “security responsibility” for Gaza.

After the war, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested that Israel might have “security responsibility” for Gaza for a “indefinite period of time.”

In an interview with ABC News, Netanyahu made the suggestion that Israel would be involved for a “indefinite period of time” because it would be in charge of maintaining overall security and preventing the escalation of Hamas terror.

Israel’s military operation seeks to remove Israel from all culpability for Gaza Strip residents’ safety and create a new security environment for Israelis. Some have suggested an Arab coalition assume responsibility in Gaza, while the US has suggested the Palestinian Authority, which oversees the West Bank, should assume control. According to US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, talks regarding post-conflict governance in Gaza are presently taking place between US and Israeli counterparts. The US supports ending Hamas’ control over Gaza.
