Lead singer Sean Martin, 26, of the Liverpool indie rock group The Night Cafe, passed away unexpectedly.
An Instagram post broke the news of the death of the singer. Both the band and the Wombats conveyed their profound sorrow and appreciation for the performer’s tour participation. The band’s childhood best friend Martin was scheduled for surgery in April 2022 after experiencing health problems. Martin was hailed by The Night Cafe’s 2014 founding band, The Wombats, as “the nicest, most lovely guy to have around on tour.”
The band had to cancel some shows with The Wombats in April 2022 due to Martin’s health concerns. The band was happy about the chance to proceed even with the cancellation. Get Away From The Feeling, The Night Cafe’s debut EP, was released in 2017; 0151, their debut album, followed in 2019. Martin’s legacy will “live on forever in their hearts and through the music he put out into the world for you all,” the band declared. The Wombats shared their love and gratitude for Martin’s support during this trying time.
