Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli military would soon begin its ground invasion of Gaza in a speech to the nation in which he cited biblical prophecy. He cautioned that although investigations into the October 7 attacks by Hamas terrorists at Israel’s southern border will take time to yield answers, the country needs to brace itself for a conflict between light and dark.
Netanyahu’s grave tone hinted that Israel might act in the coming days, amid reports that it has decided to postpone a ground invasion of Gaza “for now” until the US can reposition its air defences. The Israeli government did not offer any further details, saying that the war cabinet would make the final decision.
Nebrahim demanded the death of every Hamas activist, both above and below the surface, inside and outside of Gaza, drawing comparisons between the group and ISIS. In reference to Isaiah 60:18, which states, “Violence shall no more be heard in your land, devastation or destruction within your borders; you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise,” he also referred to Israel and its allies as “the people of the light.”
According to reports, the Pentagon is preparing for the anticipated incursion into Gaza, which will be headed by Marine Corps Lt. Gen. James Glynn, who oversaw special operations against the Islamic State in Iraq, by sending air defence systems and U.S. military advisers.
