Hugo Morris, Harvey Owen, Wilf Henderson, and Jevon Hirst are the four teenage boys whose bodies were discovered in a car that had crashed off the road in north Wales.
The boys were college students, ages sixteen to eighteen, who had come to Snowdonia (Eryri) for a camping vacation. When they did not show up at their Shrewsbury home on Monday, their families filed an alarm. They were last seen driving a silver Ford Fiesta on Sunday morning.
Tuesday morning, approximately five miles from their last known location in Porthmadog two days prior, police discovered the car upside down and partially submerged in water. According to North Wales police, this looks to be a tragic accident, and during this extremely trying time, their thoughts are with the four young men’s family and friends. The police are currently looking into what caused the car to leave the road after a thorough search involving numerous agencies and volunteers.
The four teenagers, two boys, ages 17, and one girl, ages 18, had left for Harlech, Gwynedd, on Saturday night with the intention of camping in Snowdonia on Sunday. In an homage to Wilf on Instagram, Maddi, his girlfriend, wrote, “I will always miss you.” The lovliest, most compassionate boy I have ever met. I promise to repay the favour because I value your steadfast love for me. In my world, there is no one more significant than you.”
Tuesday shortly after ten in the morning saw the North Wales ambulance service respond to an incident. Investigations into what caused the vehicle to go off the road are still ongoing, according to North Wales police, but it looked as though it crashed on the A4085 at Garreg, near Tremadog.
Harvey’s mother Crystal Owen estimates that the group last used their phones at noon on Sunday. She mentioned that her son had told her he was staying with a friend’s grandfather.
In a statement, Shrewsbury Colleges Group expressed their sincere sympathies to the friends and family of the four young men who died in the apparent traffic accident. They would like to express their gratitude to the public, local mountain rescue teams, and emergency services for their help in locating the vehicle and assisting with the search.
