To demonstrate that the Hamas organisation in the Gaza Strip has been utilising the biggest hospital in the Palestinian territory for military objectives, Israel has released two videos purporting to show the group questioning “Hamas terrorists.”
The videos were uploaded on X, formerly Twitter, by an Israel Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson who claimed to have more proof that Hamas was using the Gaza-based Shifa Hospital for “terrorist activity.”
The man claiming to be from Hamas is heard stating that in addition to hiding in clinics, schools, and hospitals to avoid being targeted by Israel, the Shifa is a large area that can be used for hiding things. As Israel intensified its ground operations in the Palestinian territory controlled by Hamas, hundreds of buildings were destroyed by a fierce overnight bombardment, rescuers reported, the UN issued a warning that thousands more civilians could perish. After Israel withdrew its troops and settlers from Palestinian territory on an arbitrary basis in 2005, this conflict is the fifth and deadliest to occur in Gaza. Large-scale ground operations in Gaza could have disastrous effects, according to UN human rights chief Volker Turk, who warned that “thousands more civilians” could perish.
